Our Mission
Home Performance Technologies, Inc. is a single-source provider of the most advanced services available to reduce energy usage in buildings.
By providing these services, we will contribute to the transformation of our built environment into one that requires substantially less fossil fuel consumption.
This transformation will create a new American industry that will put people to work, making our nation's buildings healthier, more comfortable, and more energy efficient. By reducing carbon emissions and our dependence on foreign oil, this new industry will help clean up our environment and improve our national security.
Our Values
In pursuing this mission we will focus on the following HPT objectives:
- Create jobs by helping organizations in the construction industry to easily acquire the capability to provide energy efficiency and renewable energy services;
- Expand awareness and understanding of the importance of reducing fossil fuel consumption in our built environment;
- Include the underprivileged and low income members of our communities in the economic benefits of the clean energy transformation;
- Educate our young people about energy efficient construction and renewable energy technologies so that they have the foundation necessary to become tomorrow's leaders in the clean energy revolution.
Our Team
Mark Gunthner
President & Shareholder
Mark Gunthner graduated from the University of Michigan in 1980 with an MBA in Marketing. Since then, he has worn many hats in the upper echelons of many companies - from Product Manager at Nabisco Brands to Owner of Paul Davis Restoration of Long Island, Naples, and Fort Myers. In 2008, drawing on his extensive experience with construction, contracting, and restoration services, Gunthner helped to found Home Performance Technologies, Inc. Mark is a Certified Passive House Consultant, a Member of the Regional Green Career Academy Advisory Board, and a Consultant and Construction Manager for United Way's YouthBuild of Long Island.
Pete Smith
Executive Vice President & Shareholder
Pete Smith holds a BA in Architecture from the Boston Architectural Center. In 1984, before graduating, he founded and managed Hillside Building and Design of Boston, Massachussetts.By 1991, he had founded PE Smith, Inc., an architectural firm specializing in home restoration with franchises across the country. In 2008, Smith collaborated with Mark Gunthner and Rich Manning to found Home Performance Technologies, Inc. Pete is a Certified Passive House Consultant, a BPI Certified Building Analyst Professional, and a Member of the Huntington Renewable Energy Task Force, the AIA, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Board.
Rich Manning
Executive Vice President and Shareholder
Rich Manning was trained as a New York State Building Code Enforcement Officer, and ceritifed by BPI, HERS, Zerodraft and LEED as a contractor. He was a Home Inspector for 12 years and an expert witness and arbitrator in the construction industry for a decade. He has served on the Board of Directors for Babylon Project, the United States Green Building Council, and the Long Island chapter of the BPCA, and as a consultant for the town of Babylon in the development of the Long Island Green Homes Program. Presently, Manning is the Owner of Energy Master, an energy audits and weatherization company, and founder and Vice president of Home Performance Technologies, Inc.
